A.V.R.E. Career - Driver/Rehabilitation Support Aide

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. TITLE: Driver/Rehabilitation Support Aide                  
  2. REPORTS TO: Director of Vision Rehabilitation Services     
  3. FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt       

I.STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Driver/Rehabilitation Support Aide supports community-based rehabilitation services by providing transportation and in-home assistance under the supervision of the rehabilitation professional.  The Driver and Rehabilitation Support Aide play a vital role in ensuring safe travel, efficient scheduling, and supportive on-site assistance for client visits.

III.BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Communication with Vision Rehabilitation Therapist is on-going

IV.SUPERVISION REQUIRED

This position works in tandem with the Vision Rehabilitation Therapist

V.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

A. Valid NYS driver’s license

B. Knowledge of local geography and ability to follow directions

C. Ability to work independently while following professional instruction

D. Strong attention to detail, especially regarding safety and confidentiality

E. Comfortable working in clients’ homes as part of a professional service team

VI.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Drive professional staff member to and between multiple client homes according to a daily schedule using AVRE agency vehicle. AVRE provides services throughout a multi-county area.
  2. Assist with planning to optimize travel time and appointment flow
  3. Uphold punctuality and reliability for all assigned routes
  4. Support rehabilitation professionals with confidential paperwork and documentation handling
  5. Provide visual observations related to home safety and accessibility when directed
  6. Assist with labeling and marking household appliances to enhance client safety
  7. Maintain professionalism and respect confidentiality at all times
  8. Perform other duties as assigned
