Diane McMillan, Manager of Infants and Children Services at A.V.R.E. will receive the Ann Range Children's Worker Award at a statewide conference on November 5, 2007.  The award is presented by NYSAER, the professional organization whose members serve people who are blind or visually impaired.

Ms. McMillan is being recognized for her dedication and commitment to teaching and advocating for the needs of children who are blind or visually impaired.  Her nomination for the award was sponsored by her peers and co-workers, and most importantly, by many of the children and their parents with whom she works.

"Diane has been a tremendous asset to blind and visually impaired infants and children throughout the Southern Tier.  Her professionalism has opened new doors of opportunity for little ones and given parents the skills they need to successfully parent a child with a vision disability," according to A.V.R.E. CEO Robert Hanye.

The award is named in honor of Ann Range, who was for many years the Children's Specialist at A.V.R.E. prior to her retirement.
