A.V.R.E. has been awarded a second year of funding from the Reader's Digest Partners for Sight Foundation to support their Community Senior Vision Rehabilitation Program.  The $18,500 grant will by used to provide individualized vision services to 20 people 55 and older who have severe vision impairment (20/50 best corrected or worse in the better eye), but who are not considered legally blind (20/200 best corrected vision).

Participants will receive an assessment to establish individual rehabilitation goals, a maximum of three rehabilitation sessions with an appropriate combination of services from a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist, a low vision examination by a certified low vision specialist, and access to adaptive aids and appliances consistent with their rehabilitation goals (e.g., meal preparation, street crossing, etc.).
