CHARITABLE GIVING

The Association for Vision Rehabilitation and Employment, Inc. is most grateful for the support of its many donors who make our programs possible. It is our wish to make the process of gifting to the Association simple and comfortable for the donor. While we strive to maximize our operational income, donors are the life-blood of the Association and ensure the future of our services.

There are many ways to support the programs of the Association. The following is a list of some of the more common ones. The Association and its Foundation are both 501(c)(3) organizations under the IRS Code and donations are generally tax deductible. We always encourage potential donors to seek advice from their attorney, financial advisor or other qualified professional for specific information about the nature of the gift and its tax applications.

Donations of Cash
The Association accepts monetary donations from regular and special donors. We do conduct a direct mail campaign. If you receive such a request in the mail, we urge you to assure yourself that it is from the Association for Vision Rehabilitation and Employment, Inc. We are the only organization in this area that specifically serves people who have a vision disability.

In-Kind Donations
The Association does accept in-kind gifts that are in good or better condition if we have a specific need. Donors considering this avenue are encouraged to refer to our "Wish list" published in our quarterly newsletter or call the Association in advance.

Memorials and Honorariums
Donors often wish to honor an individual or express a special remembrance through a gift to the Association. The Association acknowledges the gift to the donor and to the individual or family as appropriate. We also honor the gift by noting it in our Annual Report to the Public.

Legacies and Bequests
Some individuals choose to establish a legacy that lives beyond them. Remembering the Association or the Foundation with a bequest helps preserve the future of services for people with a vision disability. Gifts may be in the form of cash, appreciated stock, property, real estate, life insurance or a residuary estate. We especially advise potential donors to consult a professional.

Program Directed Giving
We understand that donors may choose to support a particular program or service in which they may have a special interest. We would be pleased to discuss the status of that program or area with the potential donor to assure that they have the most current information.
