Our Senior Vision Services Program is the newest one at A.V.R.E. and is designed especially for people who are 55 and older who have severe vision loss. We have assisted seniors for a long time as part of our general Core Services, but with a program specifically dedicated to seniors, we can now also help those with low vision who are not legally blind.

Presently, 65-70% of people over 65 have vision related disabilities. This program provides vision rehabilitation services for seniors whose vision has decreased to the point where normal living tasks become difficult. Most services are aimed at assisting the individual remain independent in their home environment. Seniors who would like to stay working or return to work are encouraged to check out our Employment and Career Services. All seniors are eligible for our Core Vision Services.

We also offer Peer Support Group meetings and seminars in conjunction with County Offices for the Aging and other senior service providers. Check the Support Group page for locations and schedules.

The site offers information on understanding vision loss, daily living and fitness and fun! It also hosts message boards that are monitored by different vision rehabilitation agencies around the country.
