The Award Goes to -- Diane McMillan

The New York State Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (NYSAER) has chosen A.V.R.E.'s own Diane McMillan to be the recipient of the Ann Range Children's Award for 2007.

Diane, who is our Manager of Infants and Children Services, was nominated by Ann Range, and her nomination was strongly supported by many of the families Diane has touched.  Ann, for whom the award was named, was our very first children's case worker when the Children's Program was begun in 1981 -- a position she held until her retirement in 1997.

Diane received her award at the NYSAER conference banquet in Albany on November 5th, 2007.  She was cited for "her compassion. love, and care for children and their families," and for being "a tireless advocate for the children she works with, striving to ensure that they reach their true potential."  Diane has also played a leading role in developing and expanding A.V.R.E.'s services for infants and children.
