Contract Packaging

Contract packaging involves the repackaging of various products to produce a unique, custom designed package for distribution or resale. In collaboration with National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and Industries for the Blind of New York State (IBNYS), A.V.R.E. currently contracts with the United States Military Commisaries and New York State on several repackaging projects. A.V.R.E. often has business partners from whom we purchase product for repackaging. All direct labor positions in this department are held by individuals who have sustained and severe vision loss.

Our partnership with Newell Rubbermaid involves repackaging Goody hair care products for resale into military commissaries in Europe. The line began with just over a dozen products, but has grown to include over 60 items! This is a significant growth area for A.V.R.E. as we work with Goody to expand within the military marketplace.

Another ongoing project involves repackaging newborn items for distribution at Downstate Medical Center's Pediatrics and Obstetrics Unit. Individual items are purchased from various suppliers based upon customer requirements and availability. The latest kits included newborn caps customized with "I was born at Downstate." A.V.R.E. has also completed contracts for NYC School's back pack kits and hygiene kits for people who are homeless. A.V.R.E. works closely with each customer to create the ideal package at the lowest cost possible.

A.V.R.E. works with the Canberra Corp. to repackage JAWS® - Just Add Water System - cleaning products for resale into the NYS Government marketplace. Of the six products offered, three are Green Seal Certified®. This is another growth area as A.V.R.E. looks into more direct labor involvement in producing JAWS products. These products are also offered through our commercial product sales.

The newest project involves repackaging recyclable batteries for resale into the New York State Government marketplace. Go Green batteries are made with recycled materials and are free of lead, mercury and cadmium. Included in the price of the battery is a recycling program.
