Picture of Bob Hanye

Bob Hanye, President/CEO, has been with A.V.R.E. since 1999. He has a Bachelors degree in Education from the University of Pittsburg and a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Hofstra University. Prior to A.V.R.E., Bob was with the National Industries for the Blind for 25 years. Under Bob's leadership, A.V.R.E. has experienced significant growth. Employment has more than doubled with great expansion in types of employment and career opportunities. Business has expanded into commercial and state markets and employment sites were added along the Hudson River and in the Bronx. A new Binghamton facility was purchased in 2006 that allowed for the creation of comprehensive center based services and a modern manufacturing space.

Bob has served in a variety of national, state and local elected and appointed professional positions and has received numerous awards and recognitions. He was appointed to the State Rehabilitation Council by the NYS Governor, served as a Vice-President of the National Association for the Employment of People Who are Blind and was selected as Vice-Chair of the national Quality Work Environment Steering Committee. Bob currently serves on the Board for Industries for the Blind of New York State and the New York Vision Rehabilitation Association. He is also Board Chair for a local non-profit that provides housing options for low income individuals. He was recently appointed to serve a four year term on National Industries for the Blind's Board of Directors.

 

picture of Ken Fernald

Ken Fernald, Vice President of Operations, has been with A.V.R.E. for 20 years. Ken has an Associates degree in Business Administration from Broome Community College and a certificate in Business Management from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Graduate Business Administration. Ken oversees the entire Business Division and is responsible for new business development. His dedication to cultivating business and customer relationships enabled A.V.R.E. to set a record for 2010, with manufacturing and contract services sales of $11.5 million.

Ken represents A.V.R.E.within the industry at the national level, serving on several committees with the National Association for the Employment of People who are Blind. He was recently appointed by Governor Patterson to serve on the Executive Board for the New York State Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.

 

Picture of Beverly Docteur

Beverly Docteur, Chief Financial Officer, has been with A.V.R.E. since 2001. Beverly graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Business Management from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She has over 25 years experience in Human Resources, Accounting and Finance in various retail and manufacturing industries and in Public Accounting. She oversees all of A.V.R.E.'s finance, accounting and human resource departments and works directly with the Board's Finance and Investment Committees. Beverly has been instrumental in A.V.R.E.'s success over the past decade, ensuring compliance with GAAP policies and monitoring all of A.V.R.E.'s accounting and human resource procedures.

Originally from Niagara Falls, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Love Canal Medical Fund and serves on their Investment and Audit/Finance committees. Locally, Beverly is a Binghamton Rotarian and is the Treasurer for the St. Vincent's Women's Club.

 

Picture of Rick McCarthy

Rick McCarthy, Director - Program Services, has been with A.V.R.E. since 2004. Rick has a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Cortland and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Albany. His career has involved service in both health planning and direct service delivery for diverse constituencies including people with HIV and AIDS, elders and people with cancer. Rick oversees the administration of a package of contracts for direct itinernant and center-based delivery of therapeutic services to consumers throughout A.V.R.E.'s service territory.

Rick serves on numerous professional Boards and advisory committees: South Central New York Rural Health Network, Broome CASA, Broome County Long Term Care Advisory Council, Chemung Valley Rural Health Network and the Tompkins Human Services Coalition.

 

Picture of Jenn Cubic

Jenn Cubic, Director - Development and Communications, has been with A.V.R.E. since 2006. She has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Women's History from Binghamton University. She has a background in non-profit and business management. Jenn oversees the agency's philanthropic and fundraising endeavors, as well as all communications, public relations and marketing. As part of A.V.R.E.'s recent growth, she is also involved in business development and commercial sales.

Jenn is an active member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and also serves on its Board. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Broome County Council of Churches and chairs the Garden of Hope committee for the Children's Home of the Wyoming Conference.
